Obiettivi formativi

The twin transition—driven by breakthrough technologies in both the green and digital spheres—is transforming production processes and labor markets, reshaping productivity and growth, and intensifying challenges related to wealth and income distribution.

This course aims to equip students with the analytical tools to explore the dynamic relationship between innovation and labor, and to directly connect these concepts to productivity, economic growth, and inequality within the context of the twin transition.

Students will be able to understand and analyze the interplay between technological innovation and labor dynamics from an economic viewpoint, together with their effects on growth and inequalities particularly within the context of the twin transition.

Oggetto:

Programma

Two main parts form the course program.

Part I is dedicated to the economics of the innovation-labor interplay and its relationship with productivity, growth, and inequalities.

Part II picks and discusses selected scientific papers related to Part I, with emphasis on the digital and green (twin) transition.

Lastly, students will present and discuss their individual work (short essay) on one or more papers discussed in part II.

The first part of the course consists of traditional lecturing; the second part is dedicated to the discussion of selected scientific papers; the third part is dedicated to the discussion of the student's essays and presentations.

Face-to-face lectures.

Total amount of in-class hours: 40.

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento

The final evaluation averages the evaluation of a written exam and the evaluation of the individual work presented at the end of the course.

The final exam (written) lasts one hour and consists of open-ended questions. The individual work consists of a short essay prepared by the students and presented in class.
