Obiettivi formativi
The course is aimed at illustrating and analysing the economic characteristics of entrepreneurship, including its determinants, impacts and implications for policy-making with respect to firm creation. The course also addresses the role of entrepreneurship for local economic development as well as a number of cross-cutting topics such as academic entrepreneurship, green entrepreneurship, women entrepreneurship, etc.

Students will have to be able to explain entrepreneurship from the economics standpoint, to know the main theories that explain its determinants and impacts, and to be knowledgeable about a number of topics intertwined to entrepreneurship.

Programma
The course includes two parts. Part I is dedicated to the definition of entrepreneurship and to the study of its determinants, impacts, governance, financing, and links with local economic development. Furthermore, the social enterprise and policies for firm creation (both international and the Italian experience) will be covered.
During Part II various topics intertwined with entrepreneurship will be addressed through lectures and students' individual works and presentations. These may include academic entrepreneurship, internationalisation of start ups, women entrepreneurship, green entrepreneurship, and migrant entrepreneurship, etc.
The programme is the same for all students regardless of attendance.

Modalità di insegnamento
The teaching method consists of face-to-face lectures. During the second part of the course students will actively participate by presenting their individual work assigned by the lecturer at the beginning of the course. The final lectures will consist of revision and exam simulation.

The evaluation of the course is based on the results of a written exam and the evaluation of the individual work presented during the second part of the course. The written exam lasts one hour and consists of open-ended questions.
