Obiettivi formativi
At global, regional and local levels (between countries, but also within countries) strong inequalities are present in the impacts of environmental and climatic changes on socio-ecological systems. There is overlapping between lack of access to essential natural resources and critical income conditions, such as for example in situations of energy poverty or water poverty. These situations are exacerbated by the diverse impact of climate change mitigation policies on nations and citizen categories. Moreover, inequalities in the impacts are associated to different responsibilities between nations and social classes in the contribution to the ecological crisis. These dynamics are particularly relevant for low-income and “emerging” countries, that contribute relatively less to environmental damages, but risk to suffer for the contradictions that are intrinsic in the climate change mitigation and adaptation policies. At the same time in such countries many government-led and grass-roots solutions to environmental risks are already present and deserve more attention and support.
The objective of the LAB is to reflect on the planning of a global and local ecological transition that is also focused on issues of social, environmental and climate equity and justice.
