How to register Applied Micro

Pubblicato: Giovedì 16 gennaio 2020 da Fabio Berton

Dear all,

As you know, the full exam of Applied Microeconomics consists of two modules: Mathematics for Economics, and Applied Microeconomics. For the sake of simplicity, let’s call the full exam simply “the exam” and the latter “the modules”.

In order to get a mark for the exam, you have first of all to undergo the two separate modules. This in turn implies that you need to sign up into them (the modules) and physically show up in the call day to undergo the modules. In the sign-up system each module appears as “non verbalizzante”, meaning that they do not give rise to a formal mark going into the official registers.

Instead, in order to obtain a formally registered mark for the whole exam, you need to sign up into the “verbalizzante” call. Your last modules’ marks will be averaged and then officially registered following the standard procedure. Of course, you do not need to show up during the call days.

Now, given the above, you have two strategies to get a mark for the entire exam:

  1. Our warmly suggested one, is that -before you sign up into the “verbalizzante” call- you wait to know which marks you got from the two modules, and then to sign up into the “verbalizzante” (any of them) only once you are satisfied with the modules. The modules’ marks do not expire. If you are not satisfied, you can undergo the module(s) again (one or both). In this case, by definition, there is no room for rejecting the average “verbalizzante” mark.
  2. If for some reason you cannot wait to know the modules’ marks, of course you are allowed to sign up into the “verbalizzante” in advance. The only difference is that, if you are not satisfied with the average mark, you need to formally reject it. After rejection, you will undergo again one or both modules in order to get another overall “verbalizzante” mark, and then sign up again into the exam’s call.

We hope this is clear enough.

With our best regards,

Fabio Berton and Claudio Mattalia
